Anna Divinsky is an Instructor of Art for the School of Visual Arts at The Pennsylvania State University and an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh. Responsible for creating the new content of Art 010: Introduction to Visual Studies, Divinsky authors online text, assignments, videos, and participates in creative decision making.
Divinsky’s experience in Studio Art stems from teaching studio courses at Pitt and an online art course at Penn State. While drawing and design classes enable her to create a closely-knit studio atmosphere with assignments and projects oriented towards the students’ personal progression, online art demonstrates a unique balance of theory and practice useful in promoting growth and development of individual views and styles in non-art majors. Each course contributes to her ideas and goals of building versatile objectives as she continues to share her knowledge and learn from the students. Divinsky also draws upon her experience from giving private art lessons to children of every age group for many years, utilizing their creative energy as sources of inspiration for college level courses. Most importantly, she integrates her personal art research and work into every aspect of her teaching, sharing her understanding and perception of art.
Divinsky is an active participant in the current art scene. Her recent work has been of collaborative nature, working with fellow artists and the public to produce art that is healing and informative. This spring ‘09 she will be the Artist in Residence at the American Jewish Museum in Pittsburgh embarking with community members to explore the relationship between nests and immigration. She has shown her artwork nationally and internationally.
